Linksys Setup

Viewed 7

Here is a guided setup, assuming your main Community Fibre internet box (the ONT/modem) is already installed and working.
📱 Phase 1: Installing and Connecting the Linksys App

  1. Download and Connect
  • Download the App: Install the Linksys app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  • Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure your mobile device (phone or tablet) is connected to the Community Fibre Wi-Fi network. The default Wi-Fi network name and password are usually printed on the bottom of the main Linksys router (or "Parent Node").
  1. Initial App Login (Crucial Step)
Since the Community Fibre installer typically sets up the router itself, you usually don't need to run the full setup process again. You just need to gain access to the dashboard.
  • Open the Linksys app.
  • Tap on Manage Your Wi-Fi (iOS) or Log In (Android).
  • Select 'Use Router Password' (this is the easiest path for pre-installed routers).
  • You will likely be prompted to 'Reset Password' for the administrative account, as this is your first time logging in via the app.
  • Enter the 5-digit Recovery Key. This is located on the label under the main Linksys router (the one connected to the wall box/ONT).
  • Click 'Submit'.
  • Create a New Router Password. This password is for the router's admin account, allowing you to manage settings in the app or web interface. Choose a strong, unique password and save it securely.
You should now be logged into the main Dashboard of your Linksys Wi-Fi system.
🔧 Phase 2: Managing Your Network with the Linksys App
The Linksys app is your central control center and provides a lot of useful features.
    Feature Description Use Case
Dashboard Overview of your Wi-Fi status, internet connection, and connected devices. Quick check to see if your internet is online and performing well.
Guest Access Create a separate, isolated Wi-Fi network for visitors. Your friends can use the internet without accessing your personal devices (printers, smart storage, etc.).
Parental Controls Block internet access for specific devices or during certain times. Schedule "pause" times for homework or bedtime, or restrict access to specific websites.
Device Priority Select up to three devices to receive priority bandwidth. Give your smart TV or gaming console maximum speed for streaming/gaming.
Devices View a list of all devices currently connected to your network. See who is using your Wi-Fi and which Linksys node (if you have multiple) they are connected to.
Speed Test Run a test to check the speed coming into your router. Confirm you are getting the speed you pay Community Fibre for.
🌐 Phase 3: Adding Extra Nodes (Mesh System)
If you purchased additional Linksys Velop nodes from Community Fibre, you can add them easily using the app to extend your Wi-Fi coverage (a Mesh System).
  • Placement: Plug in the new node (often called a "child node") near the main router initially, then move it to the desired final location later.
  • Power On: Power on the new node and wait for the light on top to turn Solid Purple. This means it's ready for setup.
  • Start Setup: In the Linksys app, go to the menu and select 'Set Up a New Product' or 'Add a Node'.
  • Follow Prompts: The app will use Bluetooth to find the new node and guide you through adding it to your existing mesh network.
  • Wait for Blue: Once successfully added, the node's light will eventually turn Solid Blue, indicating it is connected to the internet and part of your mesh system.
Do you want to change your Wi-Fi name and password now that you have access to the app, or are you interested in a specific feature like Parental Controls?
